Export Klaviyo data to Power BI

Klaviyo does not have a Power BI connector, and it is not on the roadmap as far as anyone can tell. The forum threads asking for one go back years. So the practical route is the one people already use for every other tool that will not integrate: get a clean CSV out, and point Power BI at it.

How to do it

  1. Get the CSVRun the Klaviyo campaign and flow export. It pulls campaign performance and flow performance from Klaviyo's official Reporting API and hands back one file. You can preview exactly what it found before you pay for anything.
  2. Open Power BI DesktopGo to Home, then Get Data, then Text/CSV. Pick the file you just downloaded.
  3. Check the column typesPower BI usually guesses right, but check that your date column came in as a date and your rates came in as decimals rather than text. If a rate looks like text, set it to Decimal Number in the preview window before you load.
  4. Load and buildClick Load. Your campaigns and flows are now a table you can slice by date, by flow, by whatever you need. Build the report Klaviyo would not give you.
  5. Refresh next monthRe-run the export, save over the same filename, and hit Refresh in Power BI. The column names do not change between runs, so nothing you built will break.
Worth knowing. The one thing that trips people up: if you save the file somewhere Power BI cannot reach later (a Downloads folder you clear out, say), the refresh will fail. Put it somewhere stable, or a OneDrive folder if you want scheduled refresh to work.

The button that does step one

The export itself is one of our buttons. It reads from Klaviyo's official Reporting API, it is read-only, and it cannot change anything in your account even if it wanted to. Your API key is used for the run and never stored.

Questions people actually ask

Does Klaviyo have a Power BI integration?

No. That is why you are reading this. Klaviyo's own exports are manual and per-surface, so the practical route is a clean CSV export that you load into Power BI yourself. It takes a couple of minutes and it does not depend on a vendor building a connector.

Is my API key stored anywhere?

No. It is used in memory for the length of the run and it is gone when you close the tab. It is never written to a database and it never appears in a log. Revoke it in Klaviyo afterwards if you like; nothing here depends on it.

Can I see the data before I pay?

Yes. Every run starts with a free preview of exactly what was found in your account. You decide from there.
